Dear Kris Kringle

It's that time of year again - you know... Christmas? Not that I'd blame you for not noticing, retail is SO down this year. In an attempt to be more 'practical', a lot of us have opted for Kris Kringle. Personally, I've struggled with my lists. Most of my Kris Kringles have a maximum of $100, but sadly, most of the things I want are just over that limit. Not to mention the fact that I'm picky. And ridiculously vertically challenged... In fact, my size borders on children's sizes, so clothes are generally out of the question. 

My friends are always moaning about how difficult I am to buy for (what can I say, sometimes I just know what I want!) So here are some of the things I've listed this year.

Cropping Out

I've always been hesitant to wear crop tops, even when exercising. That's a lie, I rarely exercise. I think about it, then sheer laziness kicks in and out goes all my plans to become fit and healthy. But when I do exercise, I don't wear crop tops - I think it's just that bit out of my comfort zone. And for fear of looking like I'm perpetually stuck in the 80s. 

So since starting this blog, I'm beginning to realise that I do have to push my own boundaries. This includes crop tops. And what better way to break your boundaries with an inexpensive (read: throwaway priced) crop top.

Jagged Little Pill

Sometimes people take things to the extreme. I'm a bit like that, actually, especially with branding. So when I saw these branded pills, I was immediately drawn. Commenting cleverly on society's addiction to fashion, artist Jonathon Paul, or as he's better known, Desire Obtain Cherish,  has made a number of large branded, wall-mounted pill sleeves. 

 

If you're lucky enough to be anywhere near Miami in early December, I'd check it out! And as tempting as it seems, I'd also resist popping the pills out of their blister packs - hey, I only said resist... Details here!

Oh Freo

I'm still a bit weirded out by posting photos of myself, but here goes! I went to Perth with Jay (the boy) and his family a few weeks ago, well it was actually Fremantle - I've been told there's a difference. Unfortunately for us the weather was incredibly unPerth-like. Think rain every half hour, followed by brilliant sunshine, and even throw in a spot of hail (five minutes after these shots were taken)! 

I picked up this jumper months ago from Glebe markets - it's vintage, incredibly warm, not scratchy in the way that wool can be, and was perfect for dealing with horribly mercurial weather.

The Enchanted

I've been obsessed with We Are Handsome for years. It was my secret indulgence. Literally. To the point where if someone asked me where my bathers were from, I'd blatantly lie, stating something along the lines of, "Oh, this? *Awkward pause*...... Wow, I actually can't remember, I got it a while ago online". (Sorry friends!)

But the secret's out now, and the label has become HUGE over the past year. Sadly, I can no longer continue with my outrageous lies blaming my poor memory. Who am I kidding - I remember each and every single item in my wardrobe, and where and when I purchased it. On a sadder note, it all started with this Rihanna shot. (Sorry RiRi fans... wow, there's a lot of apologies today.) Gotta admit though, she looks fantastic in the panther!

Last year I was lucky enough to have a chat to Jeremy Somers, one half of WAH's brilliant creators, at their pop-up store in Sydney Westfield #claimtofame. At the time, he told me that there was some exciting news in the works, and that, despite my love of their digital animal print, they'd soon run out of animals to use! Luckily for us, they're still cycling their way through the animal kingdom. 

Getting back to the point, WAH's latest collection entitled The Enchanted maintains the brand's roots in digital animal prints, and no, we're not talking your typical leopard print!

Every time summer rolls around, I get an insatiable need to bare down to a bikini and denim shorts, and make a beeline to the nearest beach. Australian summers just wouldn't be the same otherwise!

And every time summer rolls around, I get an inexplicable desire to transform into a WILDFOX girl.

There's something about the American vintage-esque nature of their brand that screams HOT. There's also something incredibly seductive about Wildfox's untamable, cheeky nature that has me wanting to drive off into the distance in an old clunky Chevvy, music blaring, friends in tow.

So while I'm stuck behind a desk, fantasizing about balmy summer nights, these are my planned purchases that will get me there.
