Long Lost Secrets

My obsession with wax seals dates back to my nerdy formative years watching documentaries and the like about ancient history and royalty. The design of a seal on a signet ring symbolised you, the unspoken naughty words and secrets held within these wax sealed letters (no, not THAT kind of naughty... well, actually I guess we'll never know!). 

A shopping trip down to Melbourne with a gorgeous friend of mine recently placed signet rings (the TMOD ones above in particular) at the top of my want/need list after we stumbled upon these.
The only trouble now is deciding between the Carved Hexagon ring or the Spinning ring. Life is always full of tough choices!

To Market

I've been waiting forever to get back to the markets, and we finally made it to Glebe over the weekend. Given the expansive gap in time, you forget just how much fun it is, and the great vintage items you can pick up! Which explains my random shopping bag... Sadly, there's no explanation for my sumo wrestler-esque hair, except maybe in my haste to get to the markets early.
Incidentally, I happen to be wearing the same skirt as I've worn before here (shock horror)! Also on that note, a couple of people mentioning that I should've posted a clearer photo of the skirt, so... as requested!

To Market

Groupie Love

I've always thought that if all else failed in life, eg. career, financials, etc, I'd up and leave and become a groupie! Well maybe not, but considering my flexibility, it's quite obvious that I'd have to rule out joining the circus. 

The band tee in question is a (kind of angry looking) tribute to the moment that cemented this epiphany in my mind - to the aftermath of a Kasabian gig, where in the moment, it seemed like a brilliant idea to buy band merchandise. So now documenting the first, and probably only, time I've ever worn this shirt with the addition of a leather skirt Jay had made up for me when he went to Vietnam! 

Ohh, and if you do get clothes tailored for you overseas, a little advice - it's a great idea that you're actually there for the fittings in the first place. Oh, and so you can physically see the material they're using. They're not all bad, but you know, they're not all good either!

Starting a blog to me has always been about breaking boundaries. Not necessarily breaking the mould, but definitely crossing my own boundaries, facing fears head on, whatever other cheesy way you can word this. 

Posting photos of myself has definitely been a massive one. But a very new one for me... the red lip. Oh, the red lip! I've always been a fan, but colour has always scared me, hence my hesitation. Not to say that I'm not still hesitant, but what's the harm in trying. 

On that note, it's definitely time to end this post, before any more cheese sneaks its way in, completely killing the little credibility I may have had!

Camel

The freak weather in Sydney makes for very confused dressing lately. Luckily for me, I never got around to packing away my winter wardrobe, so I still had this camel coat ready to go at the slightest hint of rain. What can I say... summer's so overrated! 

A forever, grown up type item, I always feel a little OTT and overdressed when I wear it, but pared back with leather look leggings and boots it felt pretty perfect.

Christopher Raeburn

While looking for my new perfect bag, I stumbled across these beauties by Christopher Raeburn. These are the most perfect animal bags, if you're willing to drop £250, but are definitely too good not to share! 

I won't promise you'll get the best cost-per-wear out of them (unless you're Zooey Deschanel) but being this adorable, who really thinks about cost-per-wear?

Down to detail

The one thing I've taken home from any fashion or style magazine I've ever read has been this: 

Always have an outfit to fall back on, for the days where there's absolutely NOTHING in your floordrobe that feels right, for your fat days, for your ugly days, and for the combination of all the aforementioned. Which, for obvious reasons, would be a very sad day indeed! 

This is my fall back outfit. Not that there's anything overly crazy about it, it's simple enough to pass off for work, yet there's enough details (hello collar tips and skull print!) to keep me happy, and for the untrained eye to pass off as a normal/ladylike blouse. Fat days, ugly days, and every other day in between sorted!
